How to avoid sending crypto on the wrong network

A familiar ticker can exist on incompatible blockchains. The safest payment is the one that matches every field on the order page, not the one with the lowest fee in a wallet menu.

Match five fields before you send

Pause on the final wallet or exchange confirmation screen and compare it with the live private order page. A mismatch should stop the payment.

Asset. Match the exact coin or token, such as USDT rather than USDC.
Network. Match the named blockchain, such as TRON (TRC20) or BNB Smart Chain (BEP20).
Address. Compare the complete address, especially the beginning and ending characters.
Amount received. Account for withdrawal fees so the exact quoted amount arrives.
Quote time. Send before the displayed quote expires and do not reuse an earlier order.

Why identical-looking addresses can still be unsafe

Ethereum-compatible networks can use the same 0x address format. That does not make Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, or other EVM networks interchangeable. The receiving service looks for the transfer on the specific chain named by the order.

After sending

Save the transaction hash and open it in the appropriate public block explorer. Confirm the destination, token contract where relevant, network, and amount. Submit only the public transaction ID; never send a private key or wallet recovery phrase.

Crypto transfers are generally irreversible. A payment sent on an unsupported or incorrect network may be impossible to recover.
